Product Packaging Fail/Rant

Hey guys! Hope your Saturday has been as fabulous as mine has! Today is a little something different- Instead of a product rave review, I have sort of a rant.....

NYX Packaging

AGHHH! Just so annoying. I'm only picturing a few, but as you can tell- these have had a large amount of product that had to be taken out because of cracking.

Why It's a Rant For Me

I have never once dropped either product your seeing. I am never particularly rough on them either!  I have just opened my makeup bag and there it is- a huge cracked amount of product, probably from traveling with them, and not even roughly! I know you can fix these, but honestly it will never truly be the same as before.  I've talked to multiple people and the same thing has happened to them too with NYX products! Even though NYX is drugstore, It is still slightly frustrating, and sort of makes you more hesitant to buy the products they put out!

 NYX blush in Rose Garden
 View of both cracked products.

NYX Matte Bronzer In Medium

Sorry for more of a negative post, but as with anything, got to take the good with the bad. Can't always love every product, or the packaging they come in for that matter.  I will continue to keep purchasing NYX products because for the most part I like them- But I will be a little more reluctant for the powdered blushes and the bronzer packaging! Also, as a bit of a disclaimer, Not every NYX product I've tried cracks- the blush and bronzer duos were fine, as with a lot more. The only standout products that cracked were  my blushes, bronzers, and eye shadows, which is mainly what I purchase from NYX- as where the rant came from.

Lots of Love,

Natalie

FOTD: April 22, 2013

Hey guys! Though I would try one of these "Face Of The Day" posts. Todays look used some key products that I know and love. Basically, for me, this was a "foolproof" look :)

Face
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation in 240 Natural Beige
Really love this foundation. Very long lasting a medium to full coverage, more on the medium side of things.
Loreal True Match Powder in Shell Beige
Honestly don't know if this is my "exact color" but I like it alot. It is a very unpowdery powder if that makes any sense. Feels very high end, like the Revlon Nearly Naked powder. One of my favorite gurus, EmilyNoel83 said the same thing! Thats initually where I heard about it, and that prompted me to buy it :) I am in the process of using it up! as you can see, I've hit pan! ;)
 Glamoflauge Concealer in Medium
This is a VERY full coverage concealer. Sort of a drugstore dupe of Kat Von D's Tattoo Concealer. I use this for any breakout I may have at the moment.
Covergirl & Olay Concealer/Corrector in 230
I have a whole post reviewing this product- ;)  check it out! http://nataliesbeautydiary.blogspot.com/2013/03/covergirl-olay-under-eye-brightening.html

Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion- Really longwearing base for eyeshadows. A little liquidy, but still does a pretty good job. I got this at Nordstrom Rack for only 8 bucks!
Covergirl Trio In Shimmering Sands- A tried and true product. Honestly, this would look good on anyone! Fool proof & pigmented! I used the shade furthest right all over the lid, middle shade in the crease, and farthest left shade in the outer V.
MAC Shadow In Trax- I use this shade as a purple pop to the covergirl trio. I mix it in the outer V with the deepest brown in the trio.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil In Bourbon- I place this halfway on my lower lashline for slight definition. A deep brown with slight sparkles- nothing too unique.
Jordana Best Lash Extreme- One of the best mascaras in my opinion. VERY quick to build volume and length.

Cheeks

 Skipped bronzer today, and used-
Elf HD blush in Superstar- SUPER pigmented. I barely use an 1/8th of a pump per cheek as sort of a "base". Really like how it turns out.
Elf Powder Blush in Blushing Rose- A great topper to the HD blush. Love the combo for a rosy cheek look.

Lips
Loreal Lipstick In "Fairest Nude"- A great nude shade for lighter skintones. A bit of a pinky undertone that is gorgeous.

Lush Haul!

Hey guys! Today's post is a Lush haul. If you have never heard of Lush, its a vegan/all natural/cruelty free brand that HANDMAKES all of there bath/shower/cosmetic/hair items. Everything included in this haul is bath products (and one hair care product), and I must say, they have exceptional products! Have been shopping at Lush for a year and a half now, and I am hooked. Totally reccomend, and if you want more info, I reccomend going to the website. here is the link to the website- http://www.lush.com/

Here's a overview of the four products I purchased- One shampoo bar, one bath melt, one bath bomb, and one bubble bar.

Shampoo bar-

name: ?   price: $11.95
here's the description from the website-

Stimulating and reviving minty shampoo bar
There’s nothing new about our stimulating cinnamon and clove shampoo bar. But, it is incredibly effective at giving you thicker, shinier hair and invigorating your scalp. When stress or life goes to your head, our shampoo will encourage hair growth and motivated tired scalps with spice and mint oils. It’s intense, (in the best possible way), but works wonders on irritated scalps or hair that’s thinning. Rosemary and nettle herbs rejuvenate, and make your hair shiny and soft as a feather. All of this, in one little beautifully fragranced spice bar; are you ready for a NEW shampoo?

my review- I absolutely love this. As for reviving my hair, I definetly think it boosted my hair growth! I noticed significant growth over time, sort of like it boosted my hair's ability to grow. Nothing too, too dramatic but it definetly boosted growth. Also- I  know what your thinking shampoo BAR?! Yes, ladies & gent's, it is not a liquid! The fact that it is a bar makes the $11.95 price tag seem more reasonable. Why, you ask? It lasts ALOT longer when stored properly, ( I use the lush brand tin, available at the store for 3 bucks.) about 1-3 months depending on usage.  As for the name, this product is definetly not new, but the name on the website is NEW....  so I honestly don't know what the name is! LOL!  Just look for the ONLY red shampoo bar ;)

Bath Bomb-

Phoenix Rising- $6.95
website description-  If you've ever read the LUSH We Believe statement on our bags or on our website, you may remember the bit that says we believe “in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again”. This new Bath Bomb is a tribute to our belief that great things can rise out of the ashes, just like the mythical Phoenix. Royal purple and gold-dusted, with a cinnamon stick in the centre, this gorgeous bomb sinks to the bottom of the tub when you toss it in, and slowly rises up, fizzing out a spicy apple and cinnamon scent.

my description- ONE OF MY FAVE SCENTS OF ALL TIME.... This bomb makes your bath water smell like  appley/cinnamony GOODNESS! It also turns it a purple- blue color, with golden sparkles. LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEE!

Bath Melt-

Happy Blooming- $6.95
website description- Snap off one cheery segment of Happy Blooming and lay back into the glorious chunks of skin softening cocoa butter, and the scent of sweet cherries, passion fruit, and ylang ylang for a blooming marvelous time in the tub. Planting the seed for this bath melt took a careful eye for perfection. Helen, inventor of our Luxury Bath Melts, tinkered with the formula for many months. She wanted to create a smooth feeling, so she used calamine powder to create a soothing and silky, not greasy effect on the skin. Slip into the tub for happy skin and a cheery outlook.

my description-  This bath melt smells like cherries, definetly! It turns your water pink, but this does sadly make my skin feel greasy. Not much to say, other than I won't be  repurchasing :(

Bubble Bar-

The Brightside- $8.95

Website description-A brand new invention this spring, The Brightside is a bright and cheerful bubble bar to bring you a fresh perspective. When you crumble it under the running tap, the water will turn into a hazy red and orange sunset with frothy white clouds of bubbles. Sink in and inhale the Sicilian mandarin, tangerine and bergamot oils. You'll emerge from the tub feeling clear and energized.

My description/review- really liked this. A very citrusy smell, and it creates tons of bubbles with a great, super fun orange color  created for your water! definetly would repurchase.

thanks so much for reading!

Urban Decay- Oz The Great & Powerful Pallete (GLINDA)

Hey everyone! Today is the pallete review I promised. This is the one for the newest sets of palletes from Urban Decay!  They are the Oz The Great & Powerful Pallete's. They have the Glinda pallete as well as the Theodora pallete. I have the Glinda pallete to show you guys. As most of you probably already know, these are based off of a new movie from Disney: Oz the Great and Powerful. Both palletes are based from the two main witchs. The darker color pallete is for the evil witch, and the lighter color pallete (the one I have) is for The good witch. (I must say I went and saw the movie, and loved it. two thumbs up)

Here we go-

Overall view of the packaging. Sleek, with magnetic closure.

Overall is 4 solid color eyeshadows, with two split duo shadows (the two in the middle)
the top middle duo looks solid white, but when you look closely you can differentiate it. These singles pop out and can be placed in any other UD pallete. This pallete is limited edition and $49.99 at sephora or ulta stores.
(Not pictured is the Mini eyeliner it came with, along with a super saturated lip pencil in "Glinda")
The packaging is very handy, and comes with a nice, big mirror.
This shade is Aura. It's the one in the top middle. This eyeshadow duo is the most deceiving! you must swatch in person, because this picture just doesnt do it justice. The seemingly sheer shades actually turn out to be a very monochromatic pink & purple. Well done UD!
Tornado is the shade in the top left. Overall the most pigmented color, as well as the darkest in the pallete. Really liked this one too.

This color, magic, is the least impressive of all. It is the shade at the top right, and is super sheer. You can hardly see it, but it is a slightly shimmery pink. Sort of the dud of the pallete.
Illusion is one of those shades that is just downright versatile, and extremely useful. It is a very pigmented peachy/creamish  colored shade. Its on the bottom left.

This shade is in the middle on the bottom row. It is a gorgeous duo with a silver and gold. Very unique, and gorgeously metallic. A must have in this pallete.
South is on the bottom right, and is a gorgeous brown/grey shade! I completely fell for this gorgeous color.

Overall I think this pallete is worth the $49 price tag. Like I mentioned above, in addition to this pallete with the removable singles, it also comes with  a lip pencil and mini eyeliner. The lip pencil is a nuetralish peachy metallic shade. The eyeliner is a deep purple. I would give this pallete a 8.5/10.

Covergirl & Olay Under Eye Brightening Concealer

Hey guys! I know I promised I would get into a more regular schedule with posting, but lately just haven't found the time! Hopeully I can get into a more regular schedule of posting within the next month, just because I have products I want to review from my birthday gifts  that I received, Including a pallete. Anywho, I wanted to provide a speedy review of a brightener I have recently picked up from the drugstore.

Covergirl & Olay Undereye Brightening Concealer

I initially heard about this product from ItsBl0ndie on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/itsbl0ndie) , and decided to give it a go! I had intially thought it would be a good idea because of the Olay moisturization agents in this product. That could mean it caters more to the sensitivity and fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes. Overall I do like it. I thought it wouldnt crease, but did show minimal creasing after just an hour.

Coverage- Medium to Full coverage (can be built up)

Wear time- wore for 8 hours, minimal creasing

Overall- Liked the product and will continue to use. (8.5 out of 10)

(my shade is 230- chose one alot brighter than my skin tone)

I have to say overall I am impressed. It made my undereye completely bright and completely covered my dark circles.

If I could change this product at all, I would like for the creasing to not be evident or happen at all, and for it to not flashback in photo's, which it sort of did.

overall, I recommend this product!

Thanks for tuning in for a short review!

xoxo, natalie

please comment, it makes my day :)
